How do you describe yourselves?

“A holistic approach to wellbeing and equality.”

We are a training and consultancy business, and a network of like-minded individuals. Our vision is to improve working conditions and enhance organisations’ capacity to deliver quality products and services.  The Rowan Tree UK works by exploring inequality in the workplace, the societal contexts underpinning inequality, and the role of education.  We understand that organisational outcomes – and colleagues’ physical and mental health – cannot be isolated from workplace culture.  By developing our joined-up strategy we have created a way to enhance productivity whilst causing a ripple effect across the mental health and wellbeing of workers, families, and communities.

We are concerned by the high levels of worker burnout and staff turnover across our sectors.  Inequality has an enormous impact on these issues.  Thus, our approach not only cultivates awareness of equity, we use practical means to support you develop healthy and balanced workplaces.

How did we get here? What’s the vision?

Covid-19 has been a shock to the system.  It has also offered the world an opportunity to change.  As so many people manage disruption, loss, and sometimes painful transformation in their personal and working lives, we all face a problem of how to return to something resembling ‘normal life’ – whilst committing to doing things differently from now on.

The Rowan Tree UK aims to be part of the solution.  The increased levels of stress that almost everybody is experiencing in 2020 means there has never been a stronger sense of urgency to build the strongest of foundations for ourselves, our teams and our organisations.

This approach leads to an organisational capacity to sustain meaningful change.  Through working across the private sector, the public and third sectors, and in community and youth settings, we work in a collaborative style to develop holistic and practical solutions.

Our Approach

Consent

Through tailored consultancy and training you will develop an understanding of the principles of informed consent, and consensus decision-making for your teams.

Empower

You will be equipped with the tools you need to communicate more effectively with your team, your clients, and your stakeholders.

Sustain

This is a whole organisation approach; you will be inspired and energised to refresh your organisational values and commit to a healthier and more productive way of working.

Our Key Values

Inclusive and Accessible

We operate our own organisation the way we want to see others work; valuing people as individuals, valuing diversity, and respecting difference. We are aware society is not equal and we focus on being equitable. We therefore make specific efforts to be as accessible as possible, and to remove barriers to participation wherever we can.

Transparent and Committed

There is already enough waffle in the world of consultation. We aim to be as straightforward as possible, our processes will always be open to scrutiny, whilst we conscientiously safeguard the sensitive information that we work with. We have long-term relationships with our clients, and we avoid a simplistic ‘hold a workshop and leave you to it’ approach. We will continue to collaborate, helping your organisations to develop a cultural shift over time in the way you have envisioned; we are aware that there is no quick fix to these complex issues and we are with you for the long haul.

Trauma-informed and Intersectional

Many of our clients are working in highly specialised areas; we are extensively trained, and all our associates work in a trauma-informed way. We are here to help organisations develop their own trauma-informed approach. We are committed to working with the concept of intersectionality: the overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage. In order to have a holistic approach to growth, we believe it is crucial to see the bigger picture and join the dots.

Continuous Evolution and Development

We want our message to ripple and create long-lasting change. As an organisation, we hope The Rowan Tree UK continues to grow and develop, and we welcome all feedback and suggestions. Underpinning all other considerations, we see the need to be sustainable. This is in terms of environmental impact, making our own lives feel more sustainable and healthy - and in terms of effecting sustainable change within teams and organisations.
